In today’s world it’s tough to be a Christian Man. It seems that many have a corrupted view of what a real man is supposed to be. Many seem to have the idea that Christian men are spineless and weak, that they have no fun, no sense of humor and must live a boring life. That is not true! It takes a strong man to live for Jesus Christ, one who is not afraid of what everyone else thinks. It takes a courageous man to admit his weaknesses and acknowledge that he needs help from the Lord. A real man is a man with convictions. A real man is a man with character. A real man is a man with integrity. A real man is a man with morality. A real man loves and adores his wife. A real man spends quality time with his children. A real man can work hard and play hard and take a stand for the things of God. A real man isn’t ashamed of his faith or his church family. Unfortunately, it’s not easy being a man like this. That’s why our men need the Whet Stone. The Bible says in Proverbs 27:17, “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” The men of Agnes Baptist Church act as Whet Stones to each other. We help to hold each other accountable in our daily living. We support, encourage and sometimes correct each other so that we all remain real men who are living like Christian men in this world. We have a prayer meeting together every Sunday afternoon and we meet regularly on Saturday mornings for breakfast and prayer. We schedule hunting, fishing and camping trips together throughout the year, as well as go to the Iron Men retreat each year. We invite all men to come to the Whet Stone and keep your edge!
